Problem
I am using Windows 8 and I'm not able to connect my host machine's Ubuntu distribution to a guest distribution on VMware. I received an error that says "VMware Authorization Service is not running." What the problem may be?
One common misconceptions about the Windows 8 kernel file system is that it does not contain a command prompt. There are, in fact, two notable commands that lie within the CMD shell: shutdown and powercfg.
Solution
The solution for me worked:
Open command prompt as administrator and type services.msc. Click OK and move to the list of services and find out the VMware Authorization service and start it.
Do not forget to kill any running processes first, as it can fix some problems as well.
