Vmware Bootmgr Is Missing

Problem

I had a crash on my VM, and after restoring from a snapshot I was told to press Ctrl+Alt+Del. Upon doing so the boot manager was missing. A little search seems to have concluded that this usually is caused by Windows 7 or 2008 being compressed with the machine, and then a restore would cause a crash again. Is there any way that I can do this manually?
