Host Only Vmware

Oct 15, 2021

Problem

I've installed VirtualBox v5.1.2 in Windows 8 pro x64 and created a "Oracle linux 6.4" virtual machine in it, and configured it through the virtual network editor to only use the "host-only" connection - this way, I'm able to connect to the Internet from both Windows 8 pro and Linux 6.4 vm's, but only by enabling the Host-Only adapter I created

Vmnet1
Type:Host-only
DHCP:Enabled
Subnet-Adress:192.168.2.0
Subnet-Mask:255.255.255.0

* I set up the connection like this in my Linux virtual machine

IPV4 Settings
Ip-Adress:192.168.2.2
NetMask:255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.2.1
DNS:192.168.2.1

* But I couldn’t connect to the internet. Disabling Windows Firewall and antivirus didn’t allow me to connect. I apologise that I can't share my screen image with you right now, because of the low reputation that I have

Solution

If you want to establish a network connection to VirtualBox, you'll need to uncheck the box labeled ‘VirtualBox Host-only Ethernet Adapter
