Cloud Computing Companies

Since we’ve been introduced to the concepts and ideal solutions of the public availability of our files, applications and other resources using the cloud, a lot of companies got into the business. Of course, each of these companies comes with its own offers and benefits. We’ll try to present why each one is good, so that you can compare some of them and make a good decision on which one to choose.

Synaptic Hosting from AT&T

It’s probably a weird thing to accept that AT&T also comes with a cloud storage, after we’ve been used to companies like Google (with google cloud) and Microsoft to manipulate the entire market and offer their solutions in everything.

However, it’s a pleasant surprise from AT&T! Their solution, the so-called Synaptic Hosting, is based on the cloud usage of applications for businesses. They offer special support and flexibility, stability and best performance.

Google Apps

Google basically rules the internet with the search engine. However, their orientation towards cloud solutions sets the internet laws of cloud computing, as their services are good and easy to use for everyone.

What does Google Apps include? Let’s shortly present the applications:

Gmail: the email service of Google probably needs no introduction. It’s easy to use, and has its own way to organize all emails, like conversations, which is quite easy and time saving to follow.

Calendar: it’s all on the organization. With Google Calendar both individuals and companies can keep their schedules clean and easy to use, so that you will have all you need in one place and it will then be very easy to synchronize your actions.

Drive: the Google Drive, the free storage service offers 5 GB for a start. If someone needs more cloud storage than that, they can pay for extra storage, but it’s really cheap, as low as $4 for an extra 20 GB. Also safety is really good here, since files are stored in multiple locations, in case one server fails, another will take its place.

Docs: this solution is simply adored by all of the users. Teachers, students, business men, everyone can use Google Docs and create their own documents, spreadsheets or presentations online, from almost any computer and then give out the access of that document to one or more users and even more, you can choose that some users may edit your files as needed.

Sites: Google Sites is easy to use, you can create basic but good and useful enough websites for a lot of different purposes. Mainly the focus is on teacher-student communication and business usage within companies, but this doesn’t mean you can use it for other things as well.

Vault: an extra organization of emails and chats, but it’s a paid service.

This service provider is simply awesome! Their major goal is providing online cloud storage, paid, but quality is also there. You can get unlimited storage from 7 Euro per month, which comes up to around $10. Their interface is very simple to use and they offer a money back guarantee as well.

Cloud Storage Models

Cloud storage encountered a wide spread and people seem to make use of it more and more. However, there are a couple of cloud storage models that are available to mostly anyone and may have their own benefits or disadvantages, depending on the purposes of the usage. In this article we’ll try to present what these models are called and why each one is good or bad.

Public cloud

The public cloud model is the most used one of the cloud storage models. Why is it so effective and so benefic? This is because the large scale of people using it. As we all know, as more and more people share their money and resources to achieve one goal or provide one service, that service is always very cheap, very cost effective. We might present a simple example: a bus taking 5 people on a tour is like a looser business while taking 50 people on a bus results in cheap tickets, lot of buyers, thus a good income for the company and justification for the used amount of gas. This is the case of the public cloud: as more people get into it, the cheaper it will get and the more it will provide. Its main characteristic is that it’s reachable from everywhere, of course with an internet connection. Since internet is available in every country (or most countries at least), you can rely on this model.

Private cloud

Cloud storage models also share this weird form: the private model. Some people might not understand how a cloud can be private, since the basic rule is that the cloud is shared and available from anywhere. Public clouds are mainly used and maintained by companies. The costs, however, have been strongly criticized as not any provider would agree to give out some of its servers for the private use of one company and even more, some companies might need to build up their own server system built up on the cloud system model. However, some cloud computing companies include the maintenance and management of such private cloud systems. Although it’s not always as cost effective as the public model, some companies would have major benefits from it!

Community cloud

The community cloud model is the cloud storage models’ step between the private and public model. On its main principle it’s still a private cloud, but with a lot more users than a private cloud, since it links together a community which shares the same views and needs. Of course, it’s a bit cheaper than the private model, but still not as cost-effective as the public model.

Hybrid cloud

Cloud storage models, for some people, bring up their best when the hybrid solution is chosen. How does it work? It basically combines all of the previously mentioned models: the public, private and the community model. It combines them by having sub-clouds, at least two, but from more models all combined together into one strong cloud system. Once a company, individual or community realizes that multiple cloud computing models give their own benefits due to several different reasons, they should get involved into having a hybrid solution!

All you have to do is to chose the best cloud model for you from a large scale of cloud computing providers.

With cloud services you will have all your data protected and available anytime.
